Background and Mission of the DC Dragon Boat Club

Founded in March 2008, the DC Dragon Boat Club, Inc. is a 501(c)(4)
non-profit organization that promotes individual and community participation
in the sport of Dragon Boating, to encourage awareness and stewardship of the area's waterways through recreational and competitive programs that foster physical fitness, camaraderie, and leadership skills.

Providing Diverse, Community Oriented Programs

The Club includes over 60 members, and our team has participated in multiple festivals, including officially sanctioned Dragon Boat racing events up and down the US East Coast.

• A comprehensive training program that provides opportunities for participants at all levels of physical fitness, from beginners to seasoned paddlers. We reach!

• A prime spot at Gangplank Marina, located on DC’s SW Waterfront, which is highly visible and easily accessible by metro and car. • Monthly opportunities to participate in Dragon Boat Festivals.

• Youth events including Day Camp Programs for children ages 5 and up.

• Office outings and team building activities.

• Minimal membership fees to make our program financially affordable and easily sustainable as a community asset.

Quick Facts

DCDBC launches practices from the Gangplank Marina, our docking sponsor.

ClubDC operates mainly from the area's rivers, including the Potomac and  Anacostia rivers.

There is no cost to come and try out the sport. We know you'll love it!
